Zwemschool

Learn to swim from age 4, in small groups and at your own pace — from water confidence to 25 metres of front crawl.

How does the swimming school work?

At the ZGEEL swimming school, children learn to swim from age 4 (joining is possible up to and including age 8). We work with lesson series of about 10 lessons, starting three times a year: in January, April and September.

  • Lessons on Saturday from 10:00 to 13:00 and Sunday from 8:00 to 11:00 — each lesson lasts 45 minutes.
  • Registration is per lesson series (€12.50 per lesson — ± 10 lessons per series), not with an annual membership fee.
  • Children are placed in a group at their level and move up as soon as they are ready.
  • The registration documents for a new series are always published on the website in advance.

Three levels, one goal

We work with three large ability groups; in practice these are currently split into six smaller groups, so every child ends up in a group that suits their own pace.

Groups 1 & 2

Water confidence

Getting used to the water through play: floating, breathing, jumping and the first leg movements — the basis of everything that follows.

Groups 3 & 4

Backstroke

The first real stroke. Children learn to swim on their back calmly and in control, with a good body position in the water as the foundation.

Groups 5 & 6

Front crawl

The step to swimming independently: front crawl with breathing, on the way to the 25-metre badge.

Badges & moving up

At the end of the programme the children earn their 25-metre badge. Those who have mastered 25 m front crawl and 25 m backstroke can move on to the Niet-vergunninghouders — where the swimming adventure continues in five ability groups, with technique, fitness and the occasional competition.
